Leading the Way in Energy Efficiency
From top to bottom, our homes are built with energy efficiency and overall quality in mind. As a Wasilla home builder, we understand the specific needs of the homes we build and the people who live in them, which is why we put so much effort into building each home to be as energy efficient as possible. This not only makes your home more comfortable, but it also saves you money in the long run. Here are just some of the many efficiency features we use throughout our homes:
- We use Malarkey laminate shingles that are rated for 100+ miles per hour to withstand high winds. They come with a 30-year limited manufacturer’s warranty for even more peace of mind.
- Our homes feature R-50+blow-in insulation in the attic. This goes a long way in keeping the warm air inside your home in the cold weather, creating noticeable energy efficiency for lower heating bills. In the exterior walls, we use R-21 Batt insulation, which keeps the cold air out and the warm air in.
- Windows play an important role in our homes, not just letting in plenty of natural light, but also regulating temperatures. We have double-pane, low-E argon windows designed specifically for us and the needs of homes in Alaska. You get the benefit of solar warmth without needless heat loss. Plus, when the weather is more moderate, the window screens let you make the most of outdoor breezes.
- Our heat recovery ventilator helps the furnace run more efficiently by providing fresh filtered air into the home while ridding your home of stale air. The transfer of air helps to heat 70% of the incoming air, which reduces your furnace’s work. Meanwhile, your furnace is a 95% efficient gas-forced air furnace for added efficiency.
- We know that people spend time in their garages on various tasks and hobbies, so all of our garages are finished. The walls are painted, the concrete floors have expansion joints to avoid cracking, there are insulated sectional garage doors, and a unit heater to keep the space warm while you work. To finish it off we use 2” foam insulation around the entire garage slab to keep the garage heated more efficiently.
- A five-star energy rating is standard for our homes, with both the lot and the home’s positioning on the lot taken into consideration. We do a final grade after the home is completed in the summer and the soil is drained away from the house.
These are just some of the energy efficiency features we build into every one of our homes, which is why as a Wasilla home builder, we’re considered an industry leader in energy efficiency.
