Hall Quality Homes is a leader
in the construction of new homes using the latest
in energy efficient techniques. All homes built
by Hall Quality Homes are constructed to stringent
FIVE STAR ENERGY standards. This standard is
achieved by using air tight techniques, including
Low E Argon Windows, 92% sealed combustion gas
forced air furnace, R-21 wall insulation, R-44
ceiling insulation and a Heat
Recovery Ventilator. This
system supplies the home with a constant supply
of fresh air with controlled humidity levels.
Jess built his first "Super Insulated" home
as a demonstration project in 1985. Since then,
he has continued to refine his construction techniques.
Years ago, Jess saw mold being a major concern
in residential construction. Mold issues are
now a major legal issue in the U.S. In an effort
to eliminate this problem each home is equipped
with a mechanical ventilation system. He has
shared his knowledge and experience with builders
throughout the state as an instructor with the
Alaska Craftsman Home Program. In 1997, Hall
Quality Homes was presented with the Building
Innovation in Home Ownership Award, presented
by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The result is a home designed and built for Alaska.
During
the 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2006 Parade
of Homes, the Home Builders
Association recognized Hall Quality Homes with
the Alaska Governors Award for Energy Efficient
Construction. In 2000, Jess received the Energy
Value Housing Award from the National Home Builders
Research Center, and has been recognized by the
EPA as an Energy Star Builder. Jess’ Philosophy
of energy efficient construction goes beyond
savings on energy costs. While this is certainly
important, Jess feels the methods of construction
he uses provide a much more comfortable and healthy
environment.
